A centenarian celebrating her big birthday has been visited by Macclesfield FC's community outreach group.

It is part of Prestbury House care home's continued 100th birthday celebrations for their popular resident, Agnes Bull, with Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust.

Agnes has been living at Prestbury House since May 25th, 2021 and she brings lots of smiles and laughter to everyone in the beautiful home.

She was born in Glasgow and lived there until she was 18. Angus then moved down south where she was conscripted into the ATS.

Her first job was as a carpet weaver and she later passed her exams to enter the civil service and worked at the Inland Revenue. She married and had two beautiful daughters.

In her spare time, she used to enjoy ballroom dancing with her husband and carpet bowls. She also loves music and socialising with all the staff and residents.

Debbie Fitzgerald, the Leisure and Wellness Co-ordinator at Prestbury House said, "Agnes is a much-loved resident here and was treated to a wonderful birthday outing with her family on the day of her birthday.

"The celebrations continued in the following days with other residents, staff and finally with Joe and the team from Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust."

It wasn't just Agnus who had their birthday recently of course, as Macclesfield FC (and their community outreach group) celebrated their first anniversary earlier this month.

Joe Craig, from Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust said, "It feels great to know we are brightening up Agnes' special day and we have all had so much fun.

"It's wonderful that Prestbury House have partnered with us. The residents like to keep active and we really enjoy helping them improve their overall fitness."

Agnus said: 'My birthday week has been amazing and it is all thanks to Prestbury House and the lovely staff that work here. I'm so grateful, everyone has been so kind.'

The carehome, which backs onto Macclesfield's West Park Drive and Cumberland Street, opened in 2011.

Lynne Hudson, the Home Manager described Agnus as "a real character who likes to keep active and at 100 years young".

Agnus participates in all of the activities at the home, day trips out and one of her particular passions is joining in the weekly exercise class with Macclesfield FC Community Trust.
