An Alderley Park business is to bunch together to raise money in memory of a Macclesfield teenager.

Quint Group is to take on an arduous athletic challenge, to raise vital funds for charity, in honour of late Gawsworth teenager Mia Jennings.

Mia passed away last year from a cardiac arrest, since then, her family and friends has raised tens of thousands of points for the good cause Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

Quint Group is latest lot to fundraise for the cardiac charity in memory of Mia, who used to work as a swim teacher at Macclesfield Leisure Centre at the time of her passing.

Quint Group is fundraising for Cardiac Risk in the Young, honouring the life of Gawsworth teen Mia Jennings.

Mike Ransom, Managing Director at Quint Group, is a family friend.

"Our colleagues, friends, and family will tackle three skyline routes of Edale on Saturday, September 7," he said.

"All monies raised will be donated to the Mia Jennings Memorial Fund for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)."

Staff will have three routes to choose from: a 20 mile route which takes nine hours to complete, a ten mile route in half that time, and a four-mile route which will take 2.5 hours to complete.

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. In 80% of cases of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) there are no prior symptoms.

They want to raise £1000 for the cardiac screening and cardiac health awareness charity.

The financial tech firm told Macclesfield Nub News: "Quint Group would like to extend their sincere thanks to all those people who have agreed to take part in the walk and who have donated so far to such a worthwhile cause."

"There is a long way to go to get to our target but we know we can do this with support from within the company and family and friends.

"We chose to support CRY this financial year in memory of Mia Jennings, who passed away aged 19 following a cardiac episode in January 2023.

"Mia worked as an apprentice in the HR team of Everybody Leisure and was a children's swimming instructor at Macclesfield Leisure Centre.

"She left behind a heartbroken mum, dad and two younger siblings who have worked tirelessly since her death to raise vital funds to raise awareness of the excellent work CRY does to save lives and raise awareness of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD)."

"Every penny raised will go straight to CRY and all donations would be very much appreciated."
