A Macclesfield independent boutique is feeling especially jubilant this Christmas, as they are fast-approaching their fifth birthday.

Tytherington gift store Moulina, located on Brocklehurst Way, has kicked-off what will be an extended season of celebration for them, with a raffle for their customers to take part in.

The Brocklehurst Way store is ran by Co-Directors Jane Tideswell (51) and Jade Tideswell (21), who are also mother and daughter.

The family-ran business was first founded on December 7 2016, and opened at their Tytherington Shopping Centre site in February 2017.

The Macc boutique and gift shop are considering an expansion in the next five years.

"We call it a little mini-department store because we've got a bit of everything", said Jane.

"We have a large range of women's clothing. Our East of India range decorative ceramic range and candle range are customers' favourites, that are here all year round.

"We've also got lots of Christmas items at the moment. From Baby clothing to bamboo socks, and of course we've got stocking fillers."

Bath bombs, soaps and skincare products are also top-sellers.

The Macc business can be called on 07957 989844.

While the store mostly stocks products for women, they've even got a branded rail of men's clothing as well, for partners of wives or girlfriends that come into the store.

The mother-daughter duo who live in Bollington, know most of their customers by name.

They offers a loyalty card system for regular customers to have discounts and free products, and will put some special offers on for their half-decade anniversary.

But it isn't just their customers they reward.

Jade started helping out at her mum's business in her late teens, and is now a Co-Director.

From raffle prizes to fundraising events in pre-COVID times, they've raised thousands for local charities such as The Christie, support dog charities, and Millbank Drive's East Cheshire Hospice.

In total, the Tytherington business has donated £5,000 to charity in the last five years.

"My favourite thing about working here is the being part of the community, and Getting everybody together," added Jane.

"We used to run social gin nights before the pandemic. People come in for chats to see how we are and don't even buy anything, which is lovely."

Moulina is just a mile-and-a-half drive from Macclesfield town centre.

"The pandemic was really rough, I caught COVID and was hospitalised for a week. I'm not well enough yet to work here the whole week but thankfully Jade is here with me. But it has impacted my business definitely.

"We went online but our online didn't work for us for whatever reason. People wanted to come and see us.

"We're friendly with Anita from the hardware store next door, and she actually let us have a cabinet in there when they were allowed to open but we weren't.

"So the community got together, we were grateful to have sold our items in there. They also did click and collect for us in there.

A colourful array of candles, which are some of their best-sellers.

"But now I can't complain now, we're doing alright. Thank you to our customers."

The Macclesfield business have a five-star rating on Google Reviews.

"We made up the name Moulina," added Jade.

"We are big fans of Paris and we like Moulin Rouge, and we wanted it to sound like a children's name.

Giving Back: They offer a 20% discount with every five purchases. Additionally, their Moulina tote bags cost £2, with money going towards The Christie, who open their new cancer care facility in Macclesfield this month.

"Mum thinks it sounds like a piece of Scandinavian furniture from a catalogue. But it isn't!"

Coincidentally, Moulina is similar to the French word for mill, which represents our town's silk mill connections.

As well as working at Moulina, Jade is a published writer, and will sell her books at Moulina in the new year.

She hopes to always help our her mum's business, even as her author career continues to grow.

The small local business is currently hosting a raffle of their products. It costs just £1 to enter, and is valued at £200. It also includes a voucher for The Poachers Inn in Bollington.

"We are an A-Team, we compliment one another," Jane said on working with her daughter.

"But we can also have a bit of a laugh. Jade takes the piddle."

"But it is my mum so I can," Jade joked.

Moulina is located on Brocklehurst Way, Tytherington, Macclesfield, England, SK10 2HB. Just round the corner from the Spar convenience store.
