A seminar to help families in Macclesfield of autistic kids, will give free advice on their future.

Macclesfield charity, Space4Autism, which supports families of children living with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, are hosting a two-hour seminar this month on the importance of future planning.

The workshop will raise awareness of estate planning, in particular discretionary trusts, and the importance of having a will to protect the future of their children.

Space4Autism has partnered with Bollintgon-based wills and trusts company, Moneybox Wills & Trust to deliver the workshops, the first of which was held earlier this year.

The free masterclass will take place on Friday July 15 from 10am to 12 noon.

Unlike the first workshop, the July event is open to anyone in the local community who wants to learn more about estate planning to protect families. It's particularly relevant for anyone who has a family member who is disabled or vulnerable.

Seminiar presenter Joe Etherington of Moneybox Wills & Trusts, is excited for the upcoming event.

"It's little known that, if someone who is living with autism or has a learning difficulty has an inheritance left directly to them, it could lead to the loss of their means-tested benefits and support package," he said.

"Setting up a discretionary trust for a disabled or vulnerable person who is unable to manage their own financial affairs can give them valuable security and protection."

The Bollington business regularly supports charities in the Macclesfield area. They donated £4000 in 2021-22 to East Cheshire Hospice, and are now backing Mill Lane's Space4Autism with the upcoming event.

Co-Founder of Space4Autism, Cheryl Simpson MBE is grateful for their support:

"Planning for the future is important for everyone but particularly relevant for our members," she said.

"The first workshop was so well received and families found it so useful that we decided to invite Joe back again and, this time, open it up to everyone in the local community."

To secure your place and more details about the free workshop, please email Joe Etherington ([email protected]).

You can also call 01625 573521 before Friday July 15. The team at Moneybox Wills and Trusts is also happy to share advice with other community groups.
