Macclesfield students received their GCSE results this morning.

And Tytherington School, of Manchester Road, has been celebrating some stellar results.

Well done! (Image - Tytherington School)

The school told Nub News in a statement: "On behalf of the whole Tytherington community, we would like to congratulate the GCSE class of 2024 for their phenomenal achievements."

"You will recall that this year group were in Year 7 when the pandemic severely disrupted their first two years in school.

"These students have demonstrated positivity, resilience and determination throughout their time at Tytherington."

The school, founded in 1860, has over 1400 pupils. And Year 11 pupils from that school have made the school proud today.

Emmanuel Botwe, Headteacher, said: "A huge well to the GCSE Class of 2024. As you will know, this year group faced an enormous amount of disruption and uncertainty at the start of their secondary school journey as a result of the pandemic."

"I'm incredibly proud that they have shown such grit and determination to secure tremendous success. These results represent an improvement on last year's GCSE results and build on our excellent a-Level results last week. We are delighted."

Parents joined in on the celebrations.

Behind the grades, there are countless stories of individual success, with many students making significant progress during their time at Tytherington School.

The School added: "There are so many students we could single out for praise, but we would like to highlight the following who exemplify the effort and achievement of the entire year group:

· Maisie Taylor has battled a painful medical condition over the last couple of years, which has meant she missed a significant amount of school. Her resilience, grit and determination and her desire to overcome and achieve has enabled her to gain a strong set of GCSEs.

· Lucinda Ross has been central to several clubs and societies in school. Lucinda had to cope with an additional hurdle when she was struck with Bell's Palsy just days before examinations started. Lucinda pushed through as best as she could and she has secured a phenomenal set of grades which includes a number of Grade 9s.

Congratulations!

· James Ellis combined preparing for GCSEs whilst taking part in the elite Ginetta Motor Racing Juniors Championships. He has now raced at Oulton Park, Silverstone twice, Donington Park, Anglesey and Snetterton. He is due to at Brands Hatch in the very near future. He has been on the podium on four occasions, most recently at the iconic Silverstone just last weekend.

· Dietrich Gutschow joined us from South Africa during the course of Year 10 and he threw himself into his studies. Dietrich's first language is Afrikaans. You can imagine that having to complete and write exams in your non-native language is a real challenge! He has done exceptionally well gaining a strong pass in both English Language and Literature and a collection of Grade 8s and 9s.

The school became an academy in 2014.

· Eva Alifanova joined our community from the Ukraine. When she arrived, she had little English. Eva has navigated the challenges of the last few years with dignified resilience and has attained a fantastic set of results while continuing to study for her Ukrainian qualifications outside of school hours. Eva has achieved straight A grades. In her Ukrainian qualifications. For her GCSEs, Eva secured passes in all subjects, including a Grade 9."

Head of Year 11, Mrs Rockett, and Deputy Headteacher, Mr Pilbury, both shared their pride for the Class of 2024's achievements. Mr Pilbury said: "Their achievements have extended beyond academia to the football pitch, netball court, cricket pitch, racetrack, the stage and television.

"There is such talent within the cohort that will no doubt continue to be on show in their next steps."
