As well as the hundreds of jobs added to our Macclesfield Jobs section every month, we also publish an article about one cracking vacancy in greater detail.

And today, we are detailing a Macclesfield Leisure Centre listing, where more than one could be hired.

They are after Lifeguard staff (and are accepting unqualified) for their swimming pools.

It offers a £19k pro rata pay, with full and part-time hours available.

Your employers will be Everybody Sport and Recreation, who run all services at Macc Leisure Centre on Priory Lane.

The Pool Lifeguard position offers full training with a Lifeguard Course included - a key skill that will carry you through your lifetime.

"Our Lifeguard courses will give you the skills and knowledge to join our team as a Lifeguard - all at no cost to you," said the employers.

"We'll cover the course fees provided you work a reasonable number of hours for us over the next 12 months.

"We're thrilled that our pools have all re-opened and we can continue to grow our team of fantastic Lifeguards who help people safely get in the water and enjoy our pools – from lane swimmers to play sessions and family swims to learners.

"We're after enthusiastic and friendly role models - who are eager to help people enjoy our centres and spend time in our pools.

"If this sounds like you and you have a passion for all things aquatics, we'd love to hear from you!

"Our pools are open seven days a week – generally from 6am to 10pm (subject to each pool's programme) and our lifeguards work on shift rota basis across the week and weekends.

"We are looking for lifeguards who can work mainly during the daytime (although do still apply if you can only work evenings or weekends)."

Please note: Before the course, you will need to be able to:

  • Demonstrate that you are fit and healthy
  • Jump or dive into deep water
  • Swim 50m in under 60 seconds
  • Swim 100m continuously on your front, followed by 100m on your back
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool
  • Climb out of the pool unaided

You must be 16 years or over on the day of the assessment (Usually the last day of the course).

Everything else you will learn on the course – at the end of which you will have gained a nationally recognised qualification.

The full-time hours are 37 hours per week.

Meanwhile the part-time hours are set from from 5 up to 36 dependent on the candidate's needs. Which means this is a great job for working around school or other commitments.

If you want hours but not to work during school holidays, this can also be considered.

Salary: Grade D £19,003 - £19,389 pro rata per annum.

BE QUICK: The closing date is April 6.

Interviews will take place a few days after.
