Registered charity, Everybody Health and Leisure are delighted to launch a funded gym and swim membership for young people aged 14 – 16 years in receipt of benefits-related free school meals.

The memberships, which are being funded by Cheshire East Council as part of the Department for Education holiday activity and food programme (HAF) will provide free, unlimited access to Everybody's gyms and swimming pools between December 1 and December 31 2023.

So this means Macclesfield children eligible for free school meals can get free use of facilities at Macclesfield Leisure Centre.

The HAF programme provides free activities during the main school holidays to children and young people in receipt of benefit-related free school meals, funded by the Department for Education as part of the government's HAF programme being delivered across Cheshire East.

Lee Malkin Sports Development Manager at Everybody Health and Leisure is elated with the launch of next month's programme.

"The Teen HAF Membership was launched for the first time this summer 2023 and was hugely successful," he said.

"We saw 288 attendances in our gyms and swimming pools with 124 memberships set up for the summer holiday period.

"This is great to see as its giving young people a place to go and be active in a safe environment during the holidays."

Douglas Hubbert, Project Manager, at Cheshire East Council added: "Everybody Health & Leisure are a critical partner to the HAF programme, and we are very pleased to have them onboard again, their ability to be flexible and amend their offer to meet the needs of the community reflects the spirit of the programme and is an excellent example of what HAF provision should be."
