A Macclesfield man is raising money for local charity Space4Autism by running, swimming and cycling.

Across September and October, Mark Allin is cumulatively completing the equivalent of three 'Ironperson' triathlons as well as running the Manchester Half-Marathon.

The total distance travelled during the challenge will be 435 miles.

Space4Autism, headed by Cheryl Simpson MBE, was set up in 2005 and supports over 5,000 people across Cheshire East on the autism spectrum, as well as their families, carers and support networks.

Facilities from therapy sessions, online advice clinics and social clubs for all ages are available, as well as an onsite sensory room, cafe and garden.

Unfortunately, S4A had a funding cut of 25% in 2023, and many of the previously available services have had to be cancelled.

Speaking about the challenge, Mark said: "Space4Autism have provided a huge amount of help to me following my autism diagnosis."

"The centre has amazing facilities and staff who do everything in their power to help people, no matter their age or individual requirements.

"I want to raise as much money as I can to ensure that people can continue to access the help that I have benefitted from.

"Doing this challenge has helped me to boost my confidence and fitness by working the exercise into my daily schedule, and experience new activities like open-water swimming."

His challenge will culminate on October 31.

So far, Mark has raised £660 for the Mill Lane charity. 25 people have pledged funds so far, and you can too on this link.
