There will be multiple outdoor Macc Pride events in Macclesfield this year.

While the main event will take place in the town centre on Saturday July 15 2023, that is quite a while to wait for those looking forward to it.

So Macc Pride are pleased to announce that they will host a new 'Picnic in the Park' get-together next month at Victoria Park, Macclesfield.

The five-hour event will take place from 11am-4pm, on Sunday 4th June.

Trustee Sue Armitt, of Hurdsfield, said: "The idea behind the picnic is to have a smaller and more relaxed event, to engage with as many residents of Macclesfield and the surrounding area as we can."

"The focus of the event will be health and well-being, whilst also raising awareness the LGBTQ+ community. and highlighting services, businesses and organisations that are safe spaces for LGBTQ+ people.

"Please bring your own picnic, or buy from the food and coffee shops we have available.

There will be charity and business stalls with fun games including lego model competition. We can't wait to see you there."

Live entertainment and Bollington's Canalside Radio. will also have a presence at the event.

There will also be a Macc Pride dog show with six categories.

  • Over 5+
  • Under 5s
  • Waggiest Tail
  • Best Rescue
  • Young Handler
  • The Pooch of Pride

For the first 5 of categories, there will be a £2 entry fee, per category, which would go to the Macclesfield Pride Charity.

However, the Pooch of Pride category would be free to enter. We would look to award a 1st, 2nd and 3rd rosette in each of the first 5 categories and one Pooch of Pride rosette.

Other than the dog show and the stalls, the event is free to attend.
