A Macclesfield man is running ten marathons in a week.

Photographer Alex Wright is planning to run the equivalent of a marathon and a half every day next week.

The 46-year-old father of two is setting off from his home in Macclesfield on Monday (April 21) and will run all the way to London, ready for the London Marathon on Sunday (April 27).

He'll be running with a buggy carrying a tent, clothes and other essential supplies, pithing his tent to sleep each night.

In doing so, he will aim to raise at least £5,000 for homeless charity, Coffee4Craig.

Alex said: "As a family, we read Night Bus Hero by Onjali Q Raúf, which sparked a desire to help homeless people in our community.

"In Manchester, I spoke with people experiencing homelessness, and the name Coffee4Craig kept coming up.

"This incredible charity provides hot meals and vital support to those in desperate need.

"While I can't volunteer as often as I'd like, I wanted to contribute in another way.

"When Coffee4Craig received a place in the 2025 London Marathon, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to raise awareness and funds for their relentless work."

Alex continued: "This is the most daunting running challenge I've ever undertaken.

"Covering 230 miles before even reaching the start line fills me with both excitement and dread, but I'm eager to push my limits and see what I'm capable of.

"By donating, you'll make every mile of my journey worthwhile.

"I've chosen to do this challenge, and I know it has an end. But for those living on the streets, homelessness is not a choice—it's a struggle they face daily. Your support will help Coffee4Craig continue their mission to bring hope and relief to those who need it most."

Coffee4Craig is aiming to end homelessness entirely, having been working to improve the situation for people in Manchester and Cardiff since 2013.

It was set up by Risha and Hendrix Lancaster following the death of Risha's brother Craig, who died whilst struggling with homelessness and mental health problems.

Today, the charity provides an evening service seven days-a-week, offering hot food, drinks, support and a chance to have a chat – a respite for men and women many of whom have problems associated with mental health and drug and alcohol abuse.

Hendrix said: "Alex is an incredible guy, absolutely crazy, but truly incredible.

"We've had amazing events and challenges raising much needed funds over our twelve years but this is on a different level.

"We are so proud to say Risha and I will be at the finish line on Sunday 27th to congratulate him."
