A new wreath has been placed on Park Green.

This follows Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27.

In a joint statement Mayor David Edwardes and Mayoress Natalia Belinskaya said:

"The Mayoress of Macclesfield Natalia Belinskaya laid a wreath of remembrance to all the souls who perished in the Holocaust.

"In Natalia's home town of Taganrog 10,000 were murdered, mostly were Jews.

"Even today, immediately after a couple marry, they make a visit to one of the execution sites to remember those lost."

Belinskaya is the first Eastern European Mayoress of Cheshire East.

She became a British citizen in September.
