A Macclesfield Olympian is one step closer to a medal, after winning in her women's boxing round of 16 fight.
Team GB's Karriss Artingstall is through to the Quarter-Finals in the women's featherweight 54-57kg boxing.
It is after she defeated Jucielen Romeu of Brazil 5-0, in her Round of 16 tie 11:39am this morning.
"This is fairly bread and butter stuff for Artingstall," said commentary of the BBC.
It followed another 5-0 defeat in the Round of 32, where she saw off Botswanan Keamogetse Sadie Kenosi.
The Macclesfield boxer will take on Australian Skye Nicolson at 9am BST on Wednesday, for a place in the semi-finals.
Unlike Artingstall, the Aussie lost a round in her Round of 16 victory, which may give our town's athlete the edge for their quarter-final meeting.
A place for the Semi-Finals is up for grabs, where they will play the winner of Quarter-Final 4.
If Karriss wins again, she will face will either be Maria Nechita of Romania and Sena Irie of Japan, with the latter playing in her home country.
