You can count the empty units on Chestergate with one hand.

Both Chestergate's east and west side has seemingly usurped Mill Street as the preferred part of the high street in Macclesfield.

And there's another new friendly face and independent business near to Macclesfield Town Hall.

Harvey Singh is the entrepreneur behind The Mobile & Vape Store Fireworks Shop Macclesfield.

Macclesfield Nub News went to meet Harvey, who is a Mancunian, to find out why he's opened up a new shop in Macclesfield.

"I've got two [similar] shops in Manchester. I wanted a third, but I wasn't sure at first where," he said.

"I've always loved coming to the countryside, I used to all the time with my grandad.

"Macc for me has that, the people are dead friendly, the atmosphere behind the town is nice and laidback. I just wanted to take a piece of that for myself and have that laid back bit of life.

"That's why I chose to open in Macc. The beautiful scenery, the people are great, and I don't think you can get better than that.

"We stock vapes, e-liquids and CBD products.

"Phones are also a big part of the business. We've got a lot of iPhone 15s coming in if anyone's interested.

"We also sell new iPhone 14s, 13s, anything for anyone's budget. We also sell a lot of aftershave, sunglasses, and electronics."

The business owner is a beacon of positivity, which in itself is a draw to his business. But his USP is his range of products, at a convenient location.

Harvey sells products he personally finds special, meaning he is passionate about everything you can buy in store.

He sells a mixture of high value items like memorabilia, smartphones and gaming paraphernalia, mixed in with the lower ticket items. So a customer may come in for the latter, but end up buying the former (and vice versa).

"The community have been massively welcoming," he shared.

"They are fantastic people, and I love that. When I get up in the morning, even if I'm stuck in traffic on the motorway it doesn't matter, I love coming here. I feel like Macc is a part of my life.

"Macclesfield is what I imagined the countryside being like. I really like the vibe of Chestergate, there's lots of independent shops and bars.

"I am really looking forward to the Christmas tree going up. I won't be buying from Manchester's Christmas Market this year, I'll be buying from here. I love that sort of thing.

"Round here, people want a natter. It is a quality of life, I like to have a good conversation [with the customer]. That is what makes me appreciate every day, when I'm driving down the Silk Road I have so much to look forward to."

Harvey has had a successful start to the month, with fireworks sales also being a big part of his business.

He will sell fireworks again in time for New Year, but he hopes to get a year-long firework licence in the near future.

As a new face to the town, Mr Singh wants to go above and beyond for a customer's request.

"If I don't have something a customer wants, I say to them come back another day and hopefully get it for them, to put a smile on someone's face," added Harvey.

"For the future of the business, I'm not leaving. I love it round here too much."

Customer Harry added: "I consider Harvey a very close friend of mine. He's the nicest guy I know, not all vape shops will have a chat with you.

"During Bonfire season, he was so busy I helped him out as well."

Mr Singh's new business is located to the right of Admiral Casinos.

They have a five star rating on Google Reviews.
