There's new management in at a pub in a Macclesfield parish.

Bollington resident Julian van Gelder has took on The Cock, Henbury

The Robinsons pub, located on Chelford Road, is open from Wednesday to Sunday each week.

"We are all about wholesome food in an enjoyable atmosphere, said Julian.

"We try to accommodate everybody. We have traditional pub favourites on the menu, to vegan pies and gluten free dishes as well.

"Our Ultimate Sunday roasts have been really popular as well.

"We put great care in everything we do, and we look forward to welcoming you.

Julian, who originally comes from an aviation background, has gained hospitality experience in recent years.

His wife Susan runs The Lord Clyde pub in Bollington, where Julian has honed his craft over the past six years. He's also previously ran a venue in Prestbury, and a pub in Mottram.

The family-friendly pub has 14 draught taps, over 80 covers indoors, and eight staff (but are hiring for more in both the kitchen and bar).

"We are lucky because we have a great team here," added Julian.

"I've known Jack, our Manager for a long time as a family friend, and Chef Simon really gets creative with the daily specials."

And it is not just the personnel that is new, with a new menu, deep clean and improvements to the beer garden having all been made.

Experienced Bollington hospitality worker Jack Bennett is behind the bar, with Julian having given the former All Hallow's pupil his first management role.

"I like giving people a nice experience", said Jack.

"I love having good interaction with customers, you never know who you might talk to.

"We're a friendly, warm pub where you can come and meet new people and feel part of the community."

And plenty of new friendships will blossom in the pubs walls and lush beer garden, as two new housing estates are being built across the road, with some people having already moved in.

Macclesfield resident Simon Coley is the Head Chef at The Cock, Henbury.

"We're hoping to bring more starters to our menu in the near future," he said.

"We want to provide more vegetarian and coeliac options too.

"We want our menu to be a lot more kid-friendly as well, as we've got the new homes across the road.

"As we reopened the pub on a skeleton staff, we are slowly adding new dishes to the menu to provide more options.

'We've just started doing pizzas. Overall, we want to offer a feelgood family experience."
