Macclesfield MP writes to Royal Mail to raise concerns over late deliveries
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 21st May 2026
Macclesfield's MP has written to Royal Mail to raise concerns over delays.
Tim Roca says he has received a 'large number of messages' from residents in Adlington, Poynton and Disley who have experienced problems with post deliveries in recent months.
While parcels don't appear to be affected, letters have been arriving late, with one constituent not receiving a Christmas card until the following August.
Mr Roca says issues appear to be linked to the Bramhall sorting office and as such, he is working to gather evidence on the scale of the problem.
He added: "I know how frustrating and worrying this has been, especially when important letters, appointments or documents are delayed or missing."
Mr Roca explained that he has raised such concerns with Royal Mail on several occasions and recently requested a meeting with them to press for answers and improvements.
A letter he sent the postal service reads: "Over the past several months, I have received regular reports from people in Poynton and the surrounding areas about delays in sending and receiving post.
"As you can imagine, this inconsistent service is causing real concern. People are worried about missing important information, appointments, or deadlines, and potentially facing consequences such as missed medical care or financial penalties.
"This is particularly worrying for older residents who may rely more heavily on postal services and are less likely to use digital alternatives.
"Given the impact this is having, I would welcome the opportunity to meet with Royal Mail representatives to discuss these issues and explore what improvements can be made."
Ahead of that meeting, Mr Roca has asked those who have been affected but haven't already been in touch, to email him with details of their experience.
