Macclesfield: New Broken Cross salon Elysian Hair Studio to host open day this weekend
Macclesfield's newest salon is to open their doors to the public, with a launch party this weekend.
Elysian Hair Studio, of 181 Broken Cross, will host an open day this Saturday, September 14.
The two staff members may be a very familiar sight to Maxonians.
That's because it is the same staff who worked in the salon's previous name, quirkydo.
Rebecca Walker, who owns the quirkydo brand, has sold the salon to Roisin Brown.
Roisin has rebranded the space as Elysian Hair Studio.
However, both will continue to work there as self-employed hairdressers.
But with Rebecca working less, and wanting to focus on selling her product brand - also called quirkydo - online, Roisin has now stepped up to name the shop after her own brand.
And the open day will celebrate this passing of the baton (or should we say scissors?).
Macclesfield Nub News met with Roisin and Rebecca to find out more.
"It is the same people, same great service, with some nice changes inside and out," said Roisin.
"We've redecorated inside, got some new wallpaper, everyone has said the salon space feels bigger.
"The reason I chose Elysian as the name is because it means 'heaven', 'or paradise' in Greek.
"I would like people to feel like that when they have their hair done.
"The event is an open day for people to come and meet me, I am here between 1 and 4 this Saturday afternoon.
"There is going to be drinks and a few nibbles, and it is just a chance to come and meet me and see what we are all about."
Elysian Hair Studio specialists in keratin hair treatment, and offers a 10% discount for a customer's first use of keratin.
Elysian Hair Studio fundraises for charity too, with their chosen charities being East Cheshire Hospice and Cardiac Risk in the Young. (The latter of which, is for a regular client from Broken Cross).
The building has been a salon for 30 years, under various monikers. And local government helped propel the new era for the building, supporting small business.
"Special thank you to Macclesfield Town Council," told Roisin.
"They provided me with a glow up grant from Macclesfield Town Council to help spruce up the front of the shop. And we have our new Elysian sign coming later this month."
Rebecca, who trained Roisin, is as excited as Roisin is for the future.
"It is very brave, I am proud of her and I would not have wanted anyone else to take it on. I feel she can definitely take the business forward. She has the drive to take it to the next level.
"My business quirkydo will still exist as a company, just not the name of the shop."
Roisin also wanted to give one big thank you to the Macclesfield community.
"Thank you to everyone for their support," she said.
"I would like to say a massive thank you to Rebecca, my family, mum and dad especially have helped lots with the salon. And to Simon, my partner.
"I look forward to welcoming you to Elysian Hair Studio."
Beyond the open day, Roisin is looking for another self-employed hairdresser and or a nail technician to come and use the space of Elysian.
