A Cantonese restaurant has opened in a former takeaway in Macclesfield.

Turquoise Garden, located on Park Lane, opened earlier in the month.

It offers authentic Cantonese dishes and Chinese favourites.

They are open five days a week, and will also allow orders to be collected and taken home.

Restaurateur Anita Mo comes from a heritage of Chinese eateries, and carries on the tradition from her parents in serving quality Chinese food.

"We originally came to Macclesfield as a takeaway here in November 2014 called Wings Kitchen", said Anita.

"Half-a-year later, I knew I was going to become a restaurant.

"So then I bought the other half of the building which was a curry house.

"I wanted to bring really good food which comes out fresh from the kitchen.

"When we were just a takeaway, the food would always steam in the box which affects the quality.

"But we always knew the quality of what we are serving was restaurant quality.

"I wanted to take the next step and make it eat in house as it should be.

A revamp two-and-a-half years in the making, Turquoise Garden boasts two floors.

There is even a rooftop area, the latter of which hopes to be open to customers at a later date.

The rooftop will hope to be a nice private sunny spot for customers to drink and enjoy small plates.

Speaking of drinks, their menu includes over 40 wines on offer.

There are 54 dining seats in the restaurant. Plus four more at the bar. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)

The premises has a long history with food, even dating back to the Victorian era when the Macclesfield Park Lane building was first used as a meat and fishmongers.

"We started the revamp in October 2019," Anita added.

"But it was affected by lockdown. So it is nice to finally be open now.

"The first two weeks have been great, we have had quite a few walk-ins and already some repeat customers who enjoyed the food.

There are 22 starters, eight soups, and 49 mains. There's also 21 sides, and traditional Chinese dim sum. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)

"Our best-sellers include Beef and Black Pepper Sauce, as well as the House Special Aromatic Duck and Pancakes with Hoi Sin Sauce."

The menu is vast, and will please everyone. They will even adapt dishes and cater to vegan or gluten free needs, should you so require.

There are also set meals from £23.95 per person.

A scaled-down menu is also available for lunch.

Anita's family, is originally from Staffordshire, and before that Hong Kong.

Her relatives still run a Chinese restaurant in Newcastle-under-Lyme .

Carrying on her family legacy to the next generation, she has hired her son Oscar as front of house for the new restaurant.
