A young martial artist from Bollington has opened his first jiu-jitsu studio.

George Stephens, who was born in Macclesfield but fell in love with the sport when he lived in the United States, has opened Stealth BJJ Macclesfield

He hosts eight classes a week spread across four days, for both adults and children.

A brown belt jiu-jitsu teacher (one level below black belt), the Bollington resident's new venture can be found inside AW Muscle & Fitness at Adelphi Mill Bollington.

George is a national jiu-jitsu champion who is one of the best in the world for his weight group.

And he's managed to achieve all his as the age of 20.

He rents a studio inside AW Muscle Fitness in Bollington's Adelphi Mill.

"Stealth BJJ Macclesfield is a place for you to come and learn jujitsu and make new friends," said George.

"Jiu-jitsu is really good for strength, posture and to help lose weight.

"We've even had people quit smoking as they realised how unfit they were from doing these sessions. I've even got my dad into the sport.

"I'd like to thank everyone on the community so far and Alex and Emily from AW Muscle Fitness for their support.

"It is early days but I'd love to move into a bigger studio in the future.

"I'd also like to go for black belt in the next few years as well."

Everyone is welcome at the classes. The kids classes are first up after school, and then adults are taught in the evening. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)

George first fell in love with jiu-jitsu when he was eight, and now 12 years later he can share that love with the Macclesfield and Bollington community.

The sport has roots dating back to 20th century Japan, but Stealth BJJ Macclesfield offers a Brazilian twist on the sport, on your doorstep.

You can try a class for free if you get in touch with George. Call George on 07834 602750 and email [email protected].

You can follow Stealth BJJ Macclesfield on social media. The new Grimshaw Lane venture also has a website.
