Macclesfield politicians pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Public figures in Macclesfield have paid tribute to Her Majesty the Queen, who passed away on Thursday afternoon.
Macclesfield MP David Rutley, who has turned his profile picture on Twitter in respect of Queen Elizabeth II, was one who paid tribute.
Following on from his hopes and prayers earlier on Thursday, Mr Rutley tweeted the following statement: "We mourn the sad loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II."
"Her dedicated public service was constant throughout her life and is an example to us all. It is a legacy that will endure through history. Our thoughts and prayers will remain with the Royal Family. God Save the King."
Macclesfield's Mayor Cllr Fiona Wilson also gave a heartfelt statement, with her sentiments echoed by Macclesfield Town Council.
"I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen," she said.
"I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Royal family.
"We will update as soon as we know where the location for the book of condolences will be, as well as any dates and times for official ceremonies.
"God Save the King."
Most recently to send in their tribute was the Mayor of Bollington.
Cllr John Stewart revealed he is "deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen."
"I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Royal family."
