On Sunday 14th November, hundreds of people gathered in Macclesfield's Market Place for the start of the Remembrance Parade.

Attendance this year was extra meaningful due to the lockdown restrictions imposed in 2021.

The parade followed the traditional route past the Town Hall, down Mill Street, and then through Park Green to the cenotaph.

Mayor of Macclesfield Councillor David Edwardes was there to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph before taking the salute back in Market Place.

"The greatest honour, in my life, was to represent Macclesfield, as its Mayor, at the Remembrance Service and Parade on Sunday.

"There was a huge, respectful crowd attending a memorable and very moving event. I and Macclesfield Town Council thank each and every one of you involved. Yes. We did remember them."

The Macclesfield Tytherington Councillor added: "I am just so proud of the Residents of Macclesfield today, attending the Remembrance Day parade and service.

"Everything was incredibly moving and the turnout was brilliant.

"'It is a great honour to represent our town as your Mayor."

The Town Council would like to thank all those involved with the service and the parade, and would also like to take the opportunity to thank the people of Macclesfield for marking the occasion by paying their respects to the fallen; all of the wounded; and all who have served in conflicts and wars.
