Macclesfield: Site which has housed bars and cinemas in the past could become apartments
There could be more flats on Macclesfield's high street, according to a new Cheshire East Planning application.
91-95 Mill Street, which was last occupied by two bars, could become multiple apartments.
An application on the Cheshire East Council website proposes "partial demolition of existing building and formation of ten apartments with associated external work."
The building's most recent tenants were Revolution bar (closed 2019) and Urban Vixen (closed 2023).
The latter, cited their closure after just three months due to 'structural issues'.
And this claim could be why the owners of the building are now wanting to demolish some of the building to be turned into accommodation.

As a result, Nub News cannot confirm any further details on these Macclesfield town centre plans. Other than that the public have until March 8 to respond to them.
Historically a cinema, the building has been known other other monikers like Silkworm and Barracuda. It was also called Majestic (not to be confused with the Churchill Way wine shop of the same name)
The Mill Street site has been vacant since January 2023.
