A Macclesfield tattoo studio which raises money for charity each spring is aiming to smash last year's total with a new concept.

Pin Up Ink and Aesthetics of 29 Park Lane, raised £380 last year for Suicide Awareness Prevention UK.

This year, the independent Macclesfield business wants to raise even more money and benefit not one but TWO charities.

Owner Paul Holden told Macclesfield Nub News about his latest fundraising efforts.

"We wanted to do the same challenge as last year but I'm not available on that date," said Paul.

"So we've decided to do our own idea for mental health and suicide awareness.

"My good friend Mark loves his tattoos, so is donating parts of his body to raise money for two mental health and suicide charities.

"We are getting people to donate and sign his body, and it will be turned into a tattoo.

Among the donors already is Muttley from Macclesfield punk band The Macc Lads, who signed Mark's head and made a cash donation. (Image - Pin Up and Ink Aesthetics)

"You can donate what you want. I have donated £50, and we've had £80 worth of donations on JustGiving.

"We want to raise five grand. This year our charities are SPUK - a British suicide prevention charity - and mental health charity MIND.

"Raising awareness and money for these causes is a big thing at the moment.

"As a small business owner myself, the struggles have been immense anyway. I suffer from depression myself. We have had quite a few close friends who have sadly taken their own lives as well.

"Thank you to everyone in Macclesfield for your support."
