Young performers from Macclesfield have starred in a new music video, celebrating NHS staff.
In a heartwarming tribute to those who've have been called the "unsung heroes of healthcare", three talented teens have come together to sing out and release a heartwarming and poignant music video and cover of the Bill Withers classic, Lean On Me.
The video, produced with support from ambulance services supplier the Tricorder Care Group, celebrates the vital work of all ambulance staff across the country.
The video has launched in the run up to the Emergency Services Show in Birmingham, one of Europe's leading industry events.
The teen trio—Marco Dennis, Ava Walsh, and Tom Murphy, all 17-year-old A-Level students from Fallibroome Acadamy, Upton Priory, Macclesfield — wanted to shine a light on the incredible work done by ambulance crews, patient transport, ambulance support staff, and emergency responders.
"When we learned about how hard ambulance staff work, especially during recent times, we wanted to do something to show our appreciation," says Marco. "Ambulance staff care for us every day, but they don't always get the recognition they deserve."
The project caught the attention of the Tricorder Care Group – based in Thame, and across the Southeast - which provides specialised ambulance services to the NHS and medical support to the film and TV industries across the UK.
When they heard about the idea, Tricorder offered to help produce a professional music video, which includes footage of uniformed staff in action.
The video is two minutes and 53 seconds long, about a minute-and-a-half shorter than the 1972 original.
"Supporting the next generation of talent while showcasing the dedication of ambulance staff was an easy decision for us," says Dr Johan du Plessis, CEO of Tricorder Care Group.
"This video is a powerful reminder of the critical role ambulance services play, and we're honoured to help bring this project to life."
The video launch is especially timely, coinciding with the Emergency Services Show on September 18-19 at the NEC in Birmingham, where Tricorder will also be showcasing their own services on stand B240.
With NHS ambulance services still experiencing pressure and calls up 22% year-on-year, according to NHS England*, this tribute to emergency services could not come at a more relevant moment.

Since his passing in March 2020, Lean on Me has been at the forefront of a newfound appreciation of the music of Bill Withers.
The track has featured in numerous official Spotify playlists, and used in adverts on television, with this key worker music video being the latest and indeed most local example.
20 million people across the globe play his music every month on the Swedish-owned streaming service.
He is also currently ranked as the 361st most popular artist in the world right now, on Spotify.
The Fallibroome Academy, which is hosting an open day later this week, responded to Macclesfield Nub News' request for comment. Their parent organisation, The Fallibroome Trust replied.
"We are very impressed with the music video featuring Ava, Marco & Tom from The Fallibroome Academy and applaud their efforts to support this worthy cause," said Jeremy Spencer, CEO of The Fallibroome Trust.
"The Trust has already shared this story through its social media channels to showcase the students' performance. We believe that these students represent their school's community spirit as well as the Trust's values of respect, integrity and optimism."
