Macclesfield to Stockport Sunday bus service restored
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 27th Feb 2026
A bus connecting Macclesfield and Stockport will now run seven days a week.
The 391, operated by Belle Vue Coaches, will be restored to its former glory from Sunday, April 5.
It will run every day of the week, travelling between Macclesfield and Stockport via Tytherington, Bollington, Poynton and Hazel Grove.
Tobias Dekker, operations coordinator at Belle Vue, said: "It is hoped that this service will be popular, and it is a testament to how well the Monday to Saturday service is getting used.
"Poynton will finally have their official Sunday bus service restored after many years without one."
This announcement has been particularly welcomed by councillors in Poynton.
The new timetable will make it easier for residents to visit Macclesfield's Treacle Market.
"Thrilled about this news," said Poynton's Cheshire East Council representatives.
"Councillors have worked hard over the years to make sure Poynton has maintained a bus service.
"But we have to all use it, if it is ever under threat again, we are always quoted, 'use it or lose it'!
"Great opportunity to use it going to the Treacle Market in Macc."
Poynton Town Council has confirmed that the previous Treacle Market specific bus will cease to operate, with the Sunday 391 taking its place.
