Two new houses are earmarked for west Macclesfield.

A pair of new bungalows could replace a pre-existing building on the Weston.

The proposed semi-detached properties would see the demolition of the former Peaks and Plains Somerton Road depot.

Both bungalows would comprise two bedrooms each. And would see the internal floorspace increase from 87 to 145 square metres.

Off-street parking would be provided.

"The site has direct access onto Somerton Road and this is shared with the adjoining Macclesfield Army Cadet Base and a short row of 6 lock up garages," said a planning document.

"The area within which the site is located is distinctly urban and predominantly residential in character and appearance. The site is effectively enclosed by existing residential development on all sides and is within easy and convenient walking distance of a wide range of key services and public transport options being located on the outskirts of Macclesfield."

A Bollington planning consultant have advised on the project. Meanwhile, the applicant is from Burnley.
