Macclesfield: What's new for the Christmas Treacle Market?
Here's what is new for this weekend's Treacle Market, to be held from 10:30-3pm on Sunday December 19.
Don't forget - it is held a week earlier this week as the last Sunday of the month would be after Christmas.
It probably won't snow this Treacle Market - unlike November's - in fact the weather says it will be mostly cloudy.
So it will be the perfect time to buy stocking fillers, Christmas veggies, and more.
New for this market, there will be a band on Exchange Street for the first time ever. It will be soulful, and it will be jazzy as Macc duo Dos Equis will perform.
The third Treacle Market stage has been powered with an eco-friendly generator, with a lithium battery enough to power a washing machine for four hours.
This follows the introduction of the Macclesfield College stage on Exchange Street last Treacle Market.
This month it will once again be supported by Silktown Fryer, but named The Voice Box live music stage with West End and TV performer Gemma Sutton.
Needle Rock Upholstery will be making their Treacle Market debut on Unicorn Gateway.
They specialise in giving old furniture a new life their website which gives a tease of their products is here.
The rotating food offering at the top of Unicorn gateway housed Greek food last week, which will still be here, but in a new location.
The prime spot opposite Flour Water Salt for a street food vendor this week will go to Macclesfield dumpling stall Happy Dumps.
The Asian dumpling stall, which was only founded in June, was a huge hit last Treacle Market, and will be found on the edge of Unicorn Gateway.
Bean & Bubble, which you will recognise from the front of St. Michael's Church Yard may not just be selling coffee this time round.
They'll be serving alcohol for the first time as the mobile bar on Market Place.
But they won't be the only stall selling mulled wine, that is for certain!
Other performers to watch in-between your browsing of the stalls include Moss Rose Community Brass Band, The Caravanettes Choir, and Bollin Brass once more for festive vibes.
Morris Dancers will be braving the weather and making moves around town.
Entertainment highlights for the kids include the all day disco machine that is the ELOV Milkfloat on Unicorn Gateway, and Ben Cooper from Great Oak Forge who will be making incredible things from metal and fire outside the Old Butter Market.
It will be the second time he will be doing some live blacksmithery, after success last month.
"Merry Christmas everyone, thanks for supporting us it has been an amazing 2021," said Becky Thompson.
"It has been an amazing few months taking on the market," said Andy Thompson.
"The support we have received from everybody has been amazing. It has been phenomenal and is quite heartwarming.
"Not just from the traders, but from the public and great support from Macclesfield Nub News as well. We can't thank you enough.
"Bring on 2022 and whatever that will bring."
12 markets are confirmed for next year, providing there are coronavirus lockdowns, which prevented them from being as many this year.
"We'd also like to say congratulations as we've got our first Treacle baby since our tenure of the market," added Andy.
"Dick and Leigh who are instrumental parts of team Treacle have just had a little boy. So many congratulations to them."
Becky echoed the sentiment and added: "She was meant to be on maternity leave as she does the social media for us, but she was still posting yesterday!"
The first Treacle Market of 2022 will be on January 28.
