Macclesfield woman becomes GB's most decorated Winter Paralympian

By Alex Greensmith 8th Mar 2022

A former Macclesfield College alumni has won another medal to boost her record as Paralympics GB's most decorated Winter Paralympian.

Menna Fitzpatrick MBE (23) raced to secure a silver medal in the para alpine skiing Super-G event on Saturday.

Menna - who is visually impaired having only five percent vision - previously won four medals at the 2018 Winter Paralympics.

Menna has also earned a bronze in Beijing in the women's Super combined skiing.

Despite her sight impediment, she learned to ski aged five on family holidays.

The six-time Winter Paralympic medallist previously studied Media Production at the Macclesfield College.

Macclesfield College have been contacted for comment.

Speaking to the Press Association, Menna said: "I am feeling absolutely amazing! I can't quite believe it, we just wanted to build on the day before and we are super, super happy."

"I am so happy to be the most decorated ParalympicsGB Winter athlete; that is not what we came out to do today though, we went out to ski well, so to come out with a silver medal and a pretty amazing title as well means we are delighted."

Boris Johnson even tweeted congratulations to Menna.

Menna will also take part in three more Winter Paralympic events, for which you can find the schedule for here.
