Macclesfield Town Council will be recognising the residents who have let out their inner Alan Titchmarsh while at home during the lockdown with the Best Front Garden Competition.

If you're proud of your gardening efforts, you can enter the competition through different categories:

• Best hanging basket

• Best window box

• Best small front garden (up to 25sq m)

• Best large front garden (over 20sq m)

Cllr Mick Warren, who came up with the idea for the competition, told Macclesfield Nub News: "Many residents take pride in how their house looks, especially gardens or baskets and window boxes. I really enjoy looking at them as I walk my dog around the streets as I'm sure many other people do.

"This competition is a bit of fun to recognise the effort that goes into keeping our town looking nice and fits in nicely with the Town Council's funding of the planters around the town centre which bring a bit of colour into the public realm."

To enter the competition, email a photo of your garden to [email protected].

The four best pictures will be circulated on the town council's social media so people can vote for their favourite.

The winners of each category will be awarded a trophy to recognise their hard work.

The closing date to enter is Monday 13 July.
