A patient has been airlifted to hospital after a crash in Macclesfield.

Emergency services were called to Coare Street on Tuesday morning, September 8.

It follows reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a van.

North West Ambulance Service has since confirmed that one person has been taken to hospital via the H72 air ambulance.

A spokesperson said: "A patient was airlifted to hospital following an RTC involving a pedestrian.

"We were called at 8.28am."

Cheshire Police officers also attended the scene, with Coare Street closed as crews dealt with the incident.

"At 8.37am on Tuesday, September 8, police were called to a collision on Coare Street, Macclesfield," said a spokesperson for the force.

"Police and paramedics are in attendance at the scene of the incident which involves a pedestrian and a van

"Coare Street is currently closed while emergency services deal with the incident."

It is understood that Coare Street remains closed between the junctions of Pownall Street and Westminster Road as as of 11am on Tuesday.
