A football club near Macclesfield has gained a new defibrillator.

Bollington United FC, located behind Bollington Leisure Centre on Crossfield Road, has received a brand new defibrillator from online prize draw operator High Peak Comps.

It is after they won a free-to-enter online prize draw with the Derbyshire company.

The defibrillator will be located outside the clubhouse in a 24/7 accessible location for the community.

David Spruce, Chair of Bollington United FC is thrilled with the donation.

"High Peak Comps' continued support of the local community is hugely appreciated by everyone," said David.

"Their commitment to supporting local clubs, organisations and good causes, including Bollington United Football Club, makes a real difference to what we do.

"This significant investment from HPC will hopefully never be required, but it is incredibly important for everyone who visits the Capelli Sports Ground, whether they are playing, watching or simply walking the dog.

Bollington United FC has over sixty teams of adults, boys and even free girls football.

The club celebrated their 40th anniversary this year.

The defibrillator was installed by I D Electrical and Security, and formally launched in a ceremony featuring High Peak Comps' longest-serving employee Callen Deighan.

"Since 2024, we have been on a mission to install more defibrillators in our local area," said Callen.

"We are thrilled to say that Bollington United FC now has a defibrillator, and it is the 19th we have paid for as a company.

"I am an amateur footballer, so I know all about the importance of having defibrillators at football clubs. We just hope it never ever has to be used.

"Bollington United FC is a great club, they even suggested to put up a High Peak Comps banner in return for our donation.

"We're just a 13-mile drive away, and we have enjoyed supporting the club before with various raffle prizes.

"In an ideal world, we hope nobody ever needs this defibrillator. But we are so glad to let the people of Bollington - and indeed teams visiting the club - that this defibrillator is here."
