A popular cafe is going up for sale.

The current owners of The Monocle Cafe on Chestergate, Jim Kite and Ash Blades, have announced they will be hanging up their aprons come January.

As such, the hunt is on for a new team to take over the 'comfiest' coffee shop in Macclesfield.

They said: "This has honestly been the hardest decision we've ever had to make, and it took many months of option-weighing and difficult conversations to get here, but our hope is that the business will continue on after us, as it has for 13 years now.

"We would love to sell the business and all of it's inventory for a very reasonable price to someone who is looking to start their own coffee shop or wants to take over an existing one, but maybe lacks the funds to start from scratch.

"While we would love for The Monocle Cafe to continue, if you wanted to buy the business just for its inventory and start your own new coffee shop in January with all the equipment you need, we'd love that too."

Friends Jim and Ash took over the cafe in the summer of 2022.

They say the decision to move on is not to do with struggling business, but their own personal interests.

"It is with heavy hearts that we have made the difficult decision to close The Monocle Cafe in January 2026," read a post shared on the cafe's social media accounts on Tuesday (June 3).

"This is due to many factors, but mainly because we both want to do a lot more of life before we settle in one place.

"Don't worry, we haven't gone out of business, we both felt like we'd like to move on to other pursuits."

The post continues: "We will still be here until the end of the year and have many events and things planned, so we would love your continued support.

"We will definitely do a proper goodbye post when the time comes but we want to say thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making our dreams come true!

"Until then, we will see you today, tomorrow and any day you need Macc's comfiest coffee shop!"
