An independent Macclesfield football club is hosting a fundraiser this weekend, to help them keep championing grassroots sport.

The Macclesfield Town Ladies Fundraising Match will take place on Sunday.

Macclesfield Town Ladies has no connections to other clubs, making it the only all-female footie club in the town.

A vital way to exercise and make new friends in the community, the club is ran by volunteers.

Come and play with Macclesfield's only all-female football club, the independent Macclesfield Town Ladies FC will be having a fundraiser this weekend.

One of those, Gaz Davies, explained what to expect this weekend: "The event is to raise funds to keep paying for our 3G facilities," said Gaz.

"3G facilities cost £112 per week for the Wednesday training every week.

"Every year we need to raise £6000 a year to play for the first team on a decent football pitch."

So if you fancy a bit of footie, you can pay £20 to join in this weekend, in what could kickstart your long journey with the club.

The event will take place this Sunday November 12, at Jasmine Park, Wallbrook Avenue, Macclesfield, SK10 3GL.

Kick-off is at 2pm.

"We're the only all-female club in the area.", added Gaz.

"We pick on participation over ability. We don't turn people away.

"We try and give back to the community as much as we can.

"It would mean the world to us on Sunday to get the community's support."

The Macclesfield Town Ladies Fundraising Match is open to those aged 16 or over.

The club strives to be as inclusive as possible, for example they have players in every age group including up to their sixties.

Beyond this weekend, they also have teams from Under 9's to Adult.

Macclesfield Town Ladies player Ruth Eaton added: "Let's come together and support our amazing 1st team as they look to raise funds to go towards their new 3G training facilities.

"It's just £20 per player to participate, and we welcome everyone to join in the fun! Your presence and support would mean the world to us."

"We might even be joined by a special guest or two. After the match, food will be available at a Bulls Head, Broken Cross."

"Spectators welcome too! Bring the family."
