Man jailed for pub attack which left punter with blackeye and facial fractures

A Macclesfield man who left a pub punter with a black eye and multiple fractures has been jailed.
Liam Coffey has been sentenced to two years behind bars after admitting to a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
At around 8.30pm on Friday, May 16, 2025, police were called to reports of an incident at The Ivy Leaf pub.
The caller reported that a man had been attacked by another local.
Two days later, on May 18, the victim reported the incident to the pub.
He stated that Coffey had punched him in the head, giving him a black eye and a possible fractured jaw.
The victim attended A&E on May 20 where he had a CT scan which confirmed multiple fractures to his face.
Police say that CCTV from the The Ivy Leaf clearly showed the offence taking place and Coffey, of Century Way in Macclesfield, was subsequently arrested on May 22.
He appeared at Chester Crown Court for sentencing on Monday, July 21.
On top of his prison sentence, Coffey was banned from entering The Ivy Leaf for two years and handed a restraining order, preventing from contacting the victim by any means until 2032.
He will also have to pay a £228 surcharge.
