A football superstar hired a local balloon artist for his child's birthday party.

Manchester United's Casemiro put on a Hawaiian themed party for his daughter Sara's ninth birthday earlier this week.

To mark the occasion in the proper fashion, the Brazilian midfielder booked Alex Ireland of Bollington Balloons.

"I've worked with a number of high-profile people before," Alex said.

"But it's always exciting and when you're with famous people you do get a bit of a rush!"

Alex set up Bollington Balloons back in 2012.

"I just needed a career change to fit in around my kids," the 46-year-old said.

"I saw someone doing balloons and thought that might be quite good.

"I did a friend's christening as a favour, and it's just gone from there really."

Alex was working at a party in December when he met Casemiro's wife, Anna.

He gave her his card and a few weeks later received a call from a party planner.

"I had kind of worked out it was Casemiro before I got there," Alex said.

For those wondering, the five-time Champions League winner asked Alex to make him a balloon monkey.

Alex continued "I didn't get to speak to him a massive amount as he's the birthday dad so he's there for his children and the guests.

"But he was a nice fella, very amenable and humble."
