The mayor of Macclesfield has launched this year's Civic Awards to recognise people and organisations making a difference in the town.

This year an additional category has been added to celebrate the contributions made during the pandemic.

The mayor, Cllr Sarah Bennett-Wake, said: "For this year's civic awards we have introduced a Kindness in the Time of Coronavirus award to celebrate those residents who have gone over and above to support others during the pandemic."

The other award categories are:

  • Community Involvement Civic Award
  • Youth Civic Award
  • Sporting and Leisure Civic Award
  • Art and Culture Civic Award
  • Environment Civic Award
  • Independent Business Civic Award
  • Ambassador of Macclesfield Civic Award
  • Pride of Macclesfield Civic Award
  • Lifetime Achievement Civic Award

For a full description of the award categories, and how to nominate someone, you can contact Macclesfield Town Council on 01625 374142 or email [email protected].

Nominations must be received by Friday 23rd April 2021.

Due to the uncertainty of easing lockdown restrictions, the town council are unable at this moment to plan a date for the 2021 Civic Award presentations but all recipients will be contacted to advise them of their recognition.

Recipients of the 2020 Civic Awards will be invited to receive their award when it is safe to do so.
