The Mayor of Bollington has set out to support a vital local cause.

Councillor Dickie Fletcher has announced plans to host a quiz in aid of the North West Air Ambulance Charity.

It forms part of the Bollington Local Lives Partnership, a community-focused initiative designed to unite people behind a shared mission, helping to ensure advanced, hospital-level care can reach patients in their moment of greatest need.

Councillor Fletcher said: "All the proceeds will go to the North West Air Ambulance Charity.

"It will be a wonderful, fun evening, in support of a great cause.

"And the quizzing will be of the highest quality, with questions set by champion quizzers from our town. I reckon it might be competitive!"

The North West Air Ambulance Charity delivers enhanced pre-hospital care at the scene of the most serious incidents, serving a population of more than eight million people across the North West, from Carlisle to Crewe.

With three helicopters and four critical care cars, its crews operate 365 days a year, attending an average of 10 incidents each day.

The charity receives no government or NHS funding and relies entirely on public donations, needing to raise over £18 million each year to continue its lifesaving work.

Each incident costs a minimum of £4,500, with two such missions taking place in Macclesfield over the summer.

To support their work, councillor Fletcher is hosting a charity quiz night at Bollington Civic Hall on Saturday, October 24, at 7.30pm.

Teams of up to six people are invited to take part, charged at £10 per head.

There will be free food as well as a charity raffle on the night.
