Medical herbalist recognised as Cheshire's best wellbeing specialist

A medical herbalist from Macclesfield has won a top industry prize.
Woodside Apothecary has been named the Best Wellbeing Specialist at the 2025 Cheshire Muddy Stilettos Awards.
Founded by Cath Couzens in 2022, the business offers online clinics, children's clubs and more.
Cath said: "I've been awarded Best Wellbeing Specialist for Cheshire in the Muddy Stilettos Awards!
"I wanted to say a big thank you to the people who nominated me and who voted for me - I'm really thrilled.
"It means a lot to be recognised as a medical herbalist, introducing people to the plants all around us and supporting so many with health issues.
"Herbal medicine really isn't 'alternative', it's been around for thousands of years and I was super sceptical when I first visited a herbalist but it changed my career and life!"

In 2017, Cath was suddenly taken ill and suffered from great pain due to suspected gastroenteritis.
It was then that a friend suggested she see a herbalist, something Cath was sceptical of at first.
However, within weeks of her first appointment she was feeling a lot better.
This prompted her to sign up for a degree-level medical herbalist course with Heartwood, one of the leading providers in the UK for herbal medicine.
After qualifying in 2022 Cath launched her own practice, Woodside Apothecary.

She offers online consultations and has patients from all over the UK.
Cath also runs Junior Herbalist club, a 10-month course for children – the next intake is in September.
On top of this, every month Cath holds Herb School for Magical Grown Ups at The Snowgoose on Sunderland Street.
These fun sessions help to educate adults about herbs and how to make their own remedies.
Cath is also a public speaker, a tutor and a member of the National Instiute od Medical Herbalists.
