Expect to see a large emergency service presence in Macclesfield later this week.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service are carrying out a major training exercise at AstraZeneca on Thursday (May 8).

Residents have been told not to be alarmed if they see lots of emergency vehicles in the area.

A CFRS spokesperson said: "The exercise will simulate a fire on site and while such an event occurring for real is highly unlikely, it is important for emergency services and AstraZeneca to test their response plans to ensure they can protect both the site and the local community.

"Please be reassured that normal operations at the site will continue during the exercise, which will conclude by 2pm and will not cause disruption to nearby areas.

"If you see a large number of emergency vehicles around the site on May 8, do not be alarmed as these will be taking part in the exercise."
