Two Macclesfield charities which are helping feed those in need in our area, have partnered with the official charity of Macclesfield FC.

Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust have joined forces with Cre8 and Silklife Foodbank to set up food donation points at the Leasing.com Stadium in Macclesfield.

Silklife Foodbank of George Street, and youth charity Cre8 of Belgrave Road, are feeding thousands during the cost of living crisis.

And now football fans can donate to their stocks during home matches for Macclesfield FC this season.

"This was something I've wanted to do since I joined here", said Macclesfield Community Sports Trust Head Lee Folkard.

"It is great to finally get it launched and further engage with the community.

"The team from Cre8 and Silklife Foodbank will be at the ground for certain matches this season.

"The trio of donation points are around the stadium, one in the Academy building as you walk in, one in the carpark and one at Bar Twenty-Seven.

"We're a charity ourselves so we know how important it is to help others, especially at Christmas.

"Projects such as this are something we'd like to be doing on a continual basis. Thank you everyone for your support."

Three donation points have been set up around the ground to support the Macclesfield charities.

Silklife Foodbank feed over 3,000 vulnerable people every year. They offer a discreet and efficient service thanks to the help of Silklife Church.

Silklife Foodbank said in a statement "If you're coming to the game please bring along a non perishable food item such as a tin (soup, beans, spaghetti, fruit, rich pudding etc), packet of rice / pasta, breakfast cereal, tea or coffee and toiletries.. We'll also be accepting cash donations."

While also a youth charity, Cre8 also started to provide grocery overstocks for £2-3 of food that would have been thrown away to help people during lockdown. The service has seen increased use during the cost of living crisis. You can follow the good cause on Facebook.

Macclesfield FC's next game is against Ramsbottom United, where both charities will be present.

The Silkmen sit comfortably at the top of the league with a four point lead over their nearest rivals.

3500 tickets have been sold, and you can get yours here.

If everyone bought just one tin of food, it could make a big difference.

It is not the only festive endeavour Macclesfield Community Sports Trust are doing. They are also raising money to buy Christmas presents for children at Macclesfield Hospital.
