Five popular TikTok accounts from Macclesfield revealed

TikTok is an app with short, often funny or groovy videos, that can engage the world.

It became a hit app during lockdown, and now businesses are beginning to unlock its potential.

Here are four popular TikTok accounts from Macclesfield you can support

1. The Vixing Axe

Andy Mayo (59) has found newfound fame on TikTok, and seen increased interest in his business.

Founded in 2019 this axe throwing business began when Owner Andy Mayo decided to bring the unique and fun activity to Macclesfield.

Previously a bespoke cabinet maker, the Charlotte Street venue may fly under the radar in Macclesfield but has gained quite the notoriety online.

Andy began his TikTok page in June of 2021 where he demonstrates axe throwing techniques and tutorials. He has now gained over 10,000 followers and 52,000 likes.

His most popular short form clip has 272.700k views and over 30,000 likes. In this video he explains why axes bounce back and what makes some safer than others.

However, other popular Tik Tok's include a bounce back test with 4 different axes, where he shows is expertise in the different kinds which got 2000 likes and 31,000 views.

Axe throwing is recognised as a sport in some countries, but is also known as a popular activity for hen parties and stag dos in the UK.

2. M&S Macclesfield

Marks and Spencer recently created quite a stir off social media by relocating from Mill Street to a food-only store at the Barracks Mill Retail Park.

But throughout 2022, they have been causing quite a stir online. They have a rapidly growing TikTok resulting in around 19,100 followers and over 4.7 million likes.

The TikTok page focuses mostly on the mascot Percy Pig with their most popular TikTok focusing around their new percy pig potato shapes. This gained over 4 million views and 500,000 likes.

The Percy pig costume has also been valuable to their popularity with being used in multiple video all which receive over 5000 views going upwards of a million.

The account, which also contains 18,000 comments, is led by 19-year-old Macclesfield resident Ella Barnard. The 'Stores Social Champion', who has worked for M&S in Macclesfield since October. 2019, inspires her colleagues, of all ages, to get involved.

Their most viewed TikTok has almost five million views.

The account recently changed their name from 'mandsmacclesfield' to ' mandsmaccbarracksmill'.

3. Bubblebeezlaura

Macclesfield business owner Laura Barnett has received a large following from TikTok after deciding to create her account in December 2020.

Her videos centre around her handmade bath bombs, where she switches up her products each week giving her followers a wide range of scents and colours to choose from.

Her most popular video has over 4 million views where she shows her 'epic fail' of a bath bomb not fizzing as it should.

After this video she continued to receive thousands of views on her account. Laura recently claimed that TikTok has helped her have her 'best year yet' in business.

She has over 291,000 likes on the Chinese-American social media platform. Read more about Laura's business here.  

4. Official Queen Ri

Another self-employdr online superstar from Macclesfield, this female metal vocalist has gained nearly 40,000 followers after a successful video about her cat coming to her workplace and another of her cat following her home.

Ria Naden also makes music with her gothic metal band Abstractian. Listen to their new single Cracks in the Pavement here.

She began her TikTok in 2018, when the site was in its infancy and known for lipsyncing videos, a perfect endeavour for the performer.

However this has expanded into lot's of different types of videos including karaoke, sharing bits about her life, and live videos from her band's shows.

5. Bearded Water Sommelier

A Macclesfield pub owner and water expert has seen global success in 2022, through a series of viral TikToks

Doran Binder (50), of The Crag Inn in Wildboarclough and water brand Crag Spring Water, posted a TikTok in the summer which received almost half a million views.

He's since gained a steady following sharing his health and wellness experiences through increasing his water intake.

If you don't know him, you'll know his still or sparkling water which can be found at almost every independent Macclesfield venue from The Picturedrome to Gastown.

Doran has 18,100 followers and 68,400 likes.
