Current Fallibroome Academy Deputy Headteacher Mr Ross Martland has been appointed to the position of Headteacher, taking over from Mr Francis Power who retires at the end of August.
Mr Power will be retiring following 26 years at the Priory Lane school, first as Head of Department in Design and Technology, then Assistant Headteacher from 2002 and Deputy Headteacher from 2007.
Mr Power has led The Fallibroome Academy as Head of School / Headteacher for the last ten years.
Mr Martland, who will officially take the reins from September 1, became Deputy Headteacher at The Fallibroome Academy in 2016 and has worked closely with Mr Power in helping make the school what it is today.
Previously Mr Martland, who enjoys running, cycling and travel (as well as maths!), was Assistant Headteacher at a North Somerset school for five years, before relocating with his family to the Peak District and spending a further five years as Deputy Headteacher at The Ecclesbourne School, an outstanding school in Derbyshire.
Technically, this is Mr Martland's second headship – while working as a volunteer in Jamaica in 1999, he spent one year as Acting Head of a rural Primary School!
Jeremy Spencer, CEO of The Fallibroome Trust, said: "Under the steady leadership of Mr Power, we've seen the Fallibroome Academy recognised as one of the very best secondary schools in the North West.
"Following a rigorous two-day interview process, we were pleased to appoint current Deputy Headteacher Mr Martland as Headteacher, continuing The Fallibroome Academy's focus on providing a high-quality, all-round education for its students.
"We are looking forward to seeing The Fallibroome Academy push on even further under Mr Martland's stewardship."
Mr Martland said: "I am thrilled to be appointed as the next Headteacher of The Fallibroome Academy."
"This really is a special place and I feel enormously privileged to follow in the footsteps of the previous Headteachers and lead Fallibroome into the next phase of its success.
"I fully intend to build on all that has made us a successful school and am keen to work with our Trust to find the best possible practice so that we can make The Fallibroome Academy even better for every single one of our students."
