New petition by 'SAVE DANES MOSS' to prevent housing on Macclesfield peatland
It has been a year since Macclesfield Nub News first covered the 'SAVE DANES MOSS' campaign,.
And a new petition has just launched to urge the part-landowners Cheshire East Council to rethink plans for 950 homes on the fringes of the Danes Moss Nature Reserve in South Macclesfield.
The new petition asks for Cheshire East Council to reject the South Macclesfield Development Area and withdraw the site from the Local Plan.
It reads: "The signatories formally request:
1) All reserved matters planning applications associated with the SMDA are rejected.
2) The site be withdrawn from the Local Plan as part of the current five-year Local Plan review."
While it currently has less signatures than the old one, it features the branding of Cheshire Wildlife Trust on the petition page and is the first one to reference the July 2022 Strategic Plan.

Cheshire East Council have been contacted for comment, but have previously revealed that they 'do not comment on live planning applications'.
