Plans for subterranean home submitted to council

Plans have been submitted for a three-bedroom subterranean house at a field in Over Alderley.
The proposal is for the development of an 'infill' plot south of Prestbury Road and west of School Lane.
A planning statement submitted by ID Planning on behalf of applicant Elezabeth Wilson, states: "The proposal seeks to create a single dwelling which will largely be subterranean.
"The site will be excavated to create a lower ground floor/subterranean area for the main residential area which will not be seen from School Lane.
"A Grasscrete driveway, pedestrian access and car lift will be the only visible elements of the property from School Lane."
It says the visual appearance of the proposed single-storey dwelling will be assimilated into the surrounding landscape utilising the topography of the site.
A design and access statement submitted with the application by WhiteBox Architecture states: "The proposal cleverly uses the topography of the site to blend in seamlessly to ensure there is no impact on the street scene.
"With accommodation all on the same level and views out across the landscape, it inspires wellness which is the main driving force for this family dwelling."
It continues: "The proposed scheme focusses on creating a dwelling that maximises natural light and connection to nature, with openings and cutouts in the terrain to create a dynamic dwelling that creates a connection to nature whilst grounding the proposal in its underground context."
The D&A statement says the site is currently vacant and is in an overgrown and unkempt state.
It is surrounded by large detached two-storey dwellings.
The application, number 25/1511/FUL, can be viewed on the planning portal on the Cheshire East Council website.
The last date for comments is June 11, 2025.
