Care village ready to offer a helping hand at Dementia Action Week open day

Dementia Action Week is here.
The Alzheimer's Society's national awareness campaign, which runs from May 19 to 25, is this year focusing on diagnosis and educating people on the most common symptoms of dementia.
To support their efforts, the team at Belong Macclesfield will be welcoming the public to an open day event, offering a chance to find out more about the services they offer.
General manager, Cheryl Davies, said: "Our village doors are always open to the community, though this week we're placing an extra special focus on welcoming those who are interested in finding out more about our dementia support.
"The focus of Dementia Action Week is to raise awareness of the importance of an early diagnosis for people affected by dementia and we're here to say you don't have to go it alone – it might be you, your partner, or a parent who has had a diagnosis.
"Or, you might be thinking a diagnosis is needed but not sure how to go about it."
She added: "As a dementia specialist, we have a number of services available to the community at no cost, and you don't have to be a resident here to access them.
"So, this Thursday, drop in to the village, say hello and we'll be ready to offer a helping hand."

The open day event takes place on Thursday, May 22, at Belong Macclesfield on Kennedy Avenue, SK10 3DE.
Visitors will be able to join in with dementia-friendly activities, starting with Breakfast Club in The Bistro from 8.45am to 9.45am.
This will be followed by 'Generations of Fun' intergenerational stay and play from 11am to midday.
Then, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm, it is 'Games Galore' in The Venue.
Throughout the day visitors will also be able to access free dementia advice and resources from Belong admiral nurses.
You will also be able to tour the village and dementia-friendly households and ask questions in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
