Police investigating as 'highly offensive' homophobic and transphobic posters plastered around Macclesfield

Homophobic and transphobic posters have popped up around Macclesfield.
Police are investigating a spate of 'highly offensive' messaging appearing on lampposts in the town.
There have been three reports of sightings of the posters in Exchange Street and nearby streets in the town centre over the past couple of days.
Officers are now in the process of checking CCTV and making enquiries in the area to find those responsible.
Inspector Richard Haque said: "The posters are highly offensive.
"It is incredibly sad that this form of hate is being peddled in our communities and we will not tolerate it.
"I would urge anyone with information that may help us to contact us.
"That also goes for anyone who has dashcam that may have captured someone putting the posters up."
Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via www.cheshire.police.uk.
Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
