Police have released a CCTV image of three men they are looking to speak to following a theft at a Macclesfield supermarket.

At 4.12pm on Friday (March 21) three men entered Sainsbury's on Cumberland Street.

They took three shopping bags which they proceeded to fill with a 'significant amount' of Gillet and Nicorette products which they stole from the shelves.

The group then forced their way out of the store through the no exit barriers.

When challenged by a security guard they assaulted him and fled on foot in the direction of Westminster Road.

PC Callum Burness said: "We are dedicated to tackling retail crime and protecting staff from violence in the workplace.

"We have been carrying out a number of enquiries to find those responsible, including checking CCTV, and I would urge anyone who recognises the men in the CCTV image to contact us so that we can progress with our investigation."
