Police save woman's life at Macclesfield Train Station
Police in Macclesfield have saved the life of a woman from suicide at Macclesfield train station.
The Macclesfield to Stoke-on-Trent line has sadly seen many fatalities in recent years. But two heroic police officers stopped one adult from ending her life.
The life-saving encounter on Waters Green was revealed by Sgt Rob Simpson, of Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team.
"When a life is at risk, we all turn out," he said.
"Following another incident that required Sgt [Kerrie] Snowdon (of Macclesfield Police) to jump in with me to try and locate a wanted male, we were diverted to Macclesfield train station.
"[It was] a report of a young lady making her way to the train station with a view to take her own life.
"A blue light run saw us arrive as the lady was on the approach ramp.
"A short foot pursuit, and some brilliant work by Macclesfield Police brought it all to a safe conclusion.
"Believe it or not I'm quite a fast sprinter when needed.
"The lady will now hopefully get the help she needs and I sincerely wish her the best.
"As a family person, it's really difficult to not be moved when someone is clearly in distress."
