Police search Macclesfield train after reports of man with knife

A man with a knife was reported on a Macclesfield-bound train.

British Transport Police were called to Macclesfield railway station on Thursday afternoon (December 18) amid reports of a man with a knife on a train from London to Manchester.

Upon arrival, officers searched the train, removing two men.

However, no knives were discovered.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers were called to Macclesfield railway station at 1.44pm yesterday following a report of a man with a knife on a train from London to Manchester.

"Officers attended and conducted a thorough search of the train, removing two men from the train and searching them, however no knives were found."
