Police search Macclesfield train after reports of man with knife

A man with a knife was reported on a Macclesfield-bound train.
British Transport Police were called to Macclesfield railway station on Thursday afternoon (December 18) amid reports of a man with a knife on a train from London to Manchester.
Upon arrival, officers searched the train, removing two people.
However, no knives were discovered.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers were called to Macclesfield railway station at 1.44pm yesterday following a report of a man with a knife on a train from London to Manchester.
"Officers attended and conducted a thorough search of the train, removing two people from the train and searching them, however no knives were found."
A Cheshire Police spokesperson added: "At around 2pm on Thursday, December 18, officers were called to assist British Transport Police following reports of a man potentially armed with a weapon on a train which was due to stop at Macclesfield Railway Station.
"Officers from Cheshire Police attended and conducted a search of a man and a woman who were on the train.
"No weapons were located, and no arrests were made."
