A main road through Macclesfield is currently closed following a crash.

A large emergency service presence was called to Cumberland Street this morning following reports of a crash involving a van and a pedestrian.

As of midday on Tuesday (June 17), the road is shut from Sainsbury's to the roundabout connecting to Churchill Way.

Hibel Road is also closed, from the aforementioned roundabout to the junction with Jordangate.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At around 11.18am on Tuesday, June 17, police were called to reports of a collision in Cumberland Street, Macclesfield.

"The incident involved a pedestrian and a van.

"Police and paramedics are in attendance at the scene."
