A cult film is to be screened three times in Macclesfield, to mark 30 years since its release.

Cinemac didn't even exist when Pulp Fiction (1994) came out.

The Quentin Tarantino movie, starring Uma Thurman, Samuel L Jackson and John Travolta, is one of the best-known crime films in the public conscience.

And to celebrate the flick's 30th anniversary, Macclesfield's independent cinema will host a trio of screenings of Pulp Fiction, with fancy dress encouraged. The first screening will be on August 24, and you can get your tickets HERE.

Cinemac Director Jordan Wilson added: "We are delighted to reveal that there will be three screenings of Pulp Fiction at Cinemac at the end of this month."

"There will be one regular screening, one with Macclesfield pizzeria Wood Fire Smoke [Aug 28 7pm], and one with a live band Chinese Marbles on after.

"It's all very exciting. We look forward to welcoming you."

The film also stars Bruce Willis, Tim Roth and Christopher Walken. It is known for its unique narrative structure. It was nominated for seven Oscars and won Best Original Screenplay.

The event is co-hosted between Cinemac, under their live events guise Cinemac Live, and Macclesfield music festival operaters Choose Macc.

Jo Lowes, of Choose Macc (formerly known as Party in the Pews) spoke with Macclesfield Nub News.

"I genuinely could not believe when I read online it had been that long," she said.

"It was the first 18 film I watched (way before I was 18), and I still rewatch Tarantino films today."

But for every Pulp Fiction fan in Macc, some could be seeing the film for the very first time. Jo revealed what she thought the film's impact on pop culture is.

"Thirty years ago, Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction premiered at Cannes and irrevocably changed cinema, it marked the birth of the post-modern blockbuster and initiated a new wave of independent film," she explained.

"The film has inspired everyone, from Christopher Nolan through to Guy Ritchie, Breaking Bad and the Marvel films. Key scenes from the film have been copied countless times and have been incorporated into pop culture.

"Pulp Fiction has one of the most legendary and stacked casts ever with John Travolta (whose career became reborn) alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, and Christopher Walken. This film also won many awards including Golden Globes, an Academy Award, and a BAFTA award.

"A lot of these awards went to the actors/actresses or Quentin Tarantino for his original screenplay. Also one of the reasons the film was so unique is its non-linear narrative style. Rather than the traditional cause-and-effect plot, Tarantino sequences Pulp Fiction out of order, on purpose to create a puzzle that means the audience has to watch to the end and then watch it all over again."

And with one of the screenings concluding with live music, expect a few songs from the film in the setlist!

When pressed as to why Choose Macc and Cinemac chose to combine the cinema screening with a concert, Jo had this to add: "The films of Tarantino have always been applauded for thier soundtracks which include classic by some of the most influential musicians ever released. His films are made undoubtedly even more iconic by the tracks that are embed into the scenes he films.

"Tarantino himself is a huge music fan creating his all of his sound tracks from his own vinyl collection. He's said in interviews that he goes through the collection to find the 'personality' of the movie while writing it and then uses those songs in the soundtrack. It is impossible to think of his most infamous scenes without remembering the track that went with them.

Tickets for the screenings can be secured HERE.

"Cinemac is an absolutely unique venue that can combine a screening with a dance floor and stage for live bands theres no where like it in Macclesfield and I will be planning more event which take advantage of Cinemac's ability to be a multi use venue," she concluded.

"Watch this space from more events and follow Choose Macc and Cinemac Live on social media.

"It is a great movie, great soundtrack, great live music, great venue.... how can it not be great?
